The Works of David Woodford RCA

'The mountains and valleys of Snowdonia have inspired many British artists, from J.M.W. Turner and Thomas Girtin in the eighteenth century, through to James Dickson Innes and Kyffin Williams in the twentieth century. Few, however have such a long-lasting and passionate engagement with the area as David Woodford RCA. In his devotion to his art, and to the mountains and valleys that surround his home, David Woodford is comparable to another famous British landscape painter, John Constable and in his insistence on working in the open air is reminiscent of the approach deployed by John Ruskin, John Brett and Alfred William Hunt. David Woodford is an artist who thinks deeply about the nature and purpose of landscape painting, and his work shows consistency, commitment, a strong personal vision and extraordinary technical skill.'
